“The Police want to talk to me.”

If you have been contacted by the police and think they might suspect you of a crime, do not speak with them until you have consulted with an attorney. From time to time police investigators will appear at your home, work place or call you on the phone. They likely want to ask you questions about a crime they are investigating or they may ask you to provide samples for evidentiary testing or even to submit to a polygraph (lie detector) test.

When you are approached you should inform the officer that prior to speaking to them or submitting to requested testing, you’d like to speak to a lawyer.

Sometimes officers may ask you to consent to the search of your person, vehicle and/or your home. You have a right to refuse their requests.

The bottom line is, don’t be bullied, cowed or sweated into incriminating yourself.
